Langtang Valley Trek trails follow the river upstream through a forest of pine, bamboo and rhododendron, uphill through pastures to arrive at the alpine meadows of Kyanjin Gompa where you will get an exceptional mountain view just a stone’s throw from the Tibetan border. Once above Langtang village and the monastery at Kyangjin, Langtang is inhabited by people of Tibetan descent. In contrast, the villagers of Dhunche, Bharkhu and Syabru further down are home to the Tamangs of Nepal´s middle hills as well as we can explore the high valleys of Kyamjin Ri and Chhirku Ri.
A few hours drive from Kathmandu to Syabribensi, the trek starts following the ragging Langtang river across the dense forest of Langtang national park which eventually takes us to Langtang village (3,430m) and Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m). It is one of the most popular trekking regions for those wishing for a short trek in the Himalayas of Nepal. Langtang valley is greatly influenced by the Tibetan lifestyle, locals are descendants of Tibetan origin.
